SHOES SHOES SHOES shoes shoes shoes
a little underwhelmed at my shoe options for spring this year
it seems everyone and their grandmother is wearing toms(seriously..the "toms" section at nordstrom was flooded with girls aged 11 to 80 purchasing and wearing their toms out of the store) LONG LIVE COMFY FEET!
and still ever as popular are the original vans, whether slip ons or another original form, in every color of the rainbow
comfortable is awesome, but i am a little sad to see that birkenstocks have made their way into everyday casual, just not into the look
dr. scholls o.g.'s are back but they are not wood and are squishy foam and only come in whole sizes(not for me)
also, the eastland/sperry boat shoe craze has yet to sail by...not a bad summer option for those hazy after day sun nights
and....
then.......
platforms!!!!
are everywhere,,,every shape, size, height, color, etc...i already own so many of these after constantly, for years, trying to add them to my collection
some of these high steppers are a bit "young" for me
and i am NOT into espadrilles!! i have owned them in the past but just find them to look inappropriate with most outfits..for the beach...by all means...run with it
im still wearing my boots
not ready to give in to a softer shoe
the saddle shoe by bass has made a most ridiculous comeback and i have owned a pair of maroon and brown ones for some time now(the black and white seems to be the overall trend in the wingtip lace-up world, made in some form by most shoemakers)
i guess im still waiting for those shoes to jump out at me, that i MUST have, like when i would see a beautiful pair of cork and vibrant color platform wedge fornarinas, complete with cute gold hearts or pink heart lining
i still love my peeptoe wedge platform booties by bcbg
and i still long to wear my high heel peeptoe frye booties
i havent even made a sneaker purchase yet to have cute kicks
funny i always run to suede(im such a fall baby!)
but i really need to purge the oldies i do not wear anymore, and simply replace them with new feet happy makers
the forever search begins
oh....and for next time...i need a bag for spring that i can use all summer and transition into fall....will it be straw? canvas?....i gotta give this leather botkier a rest ...LOL
i did see a super cute marc by marc jacobs straw crossover bag with neon trim...that could be fun, and would match quite a bit
wait.....am i admitting that i am not going to wear black all the time?????!!!!!
something in the air.......
ahhhhhhhhhhhhh-chooooo

PIZZA
i ask the same question to all new elm city transplants:
where is your fave place to get pizza in new haven?
always thinking the answer will be one of 3 maybe 4 answers... in no order:
pepe's, sally's, modern, or bar
most people have that typical answer, but i am finding the more people that i ask that are from regions further than the finger lakes, such as the west coast,,,tend to tell me they don't care much for thin crust pizza or pizza at all?!?!?
i recently just ate at frank pepe's "the spot" after the 39th annual wooster street cherry blossom festival...it was mighty tasty, almost identical to the pie from regular pepe's, but there was just something a little different, but majorly scrumptious!
a little more slow paced than the regular wooster street original, and almost more "family" oriented
i quite enjoyed this experience
and being a native i can still admit that i have never had sally's pizza...im a pepe's/modern/bar kinda girl!
discuss amongst yourselves!
i heart elm city pizza!

PROMISING TO GET BACK TO WRITING A.S.A.P!!!!...CRAZY TRANSITION INTO SPRING...
i will start this entry by saying to everyone, woman and man alike,
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not wear sweat pants in public, unless you are just coming from working out...they do not look casual, they do not look comfy unless you are at home,
THEY LOOK UNKEMPT and SCREAM,,,I DON'T GIVE A FUCK WHAT I LOOK LIKE
and hey if thats what your goal is, go for it
with that said
SPRING HAS SPRUNG, and i am on a mission to clean out that closet to make room for all my new, more sophisticatedly sexy and somewhat casual clothing and shoe options i have recently been making....
let's start with the basics:
body:
i changed up my body wash smell to that of chamomile and honey still using the occasional patchouli body lotion
my scents will remain the same until the prada d'iris, calvin klein beautiful are all gone
i cannot wear the dior addict all summer, promotes to many little flying friends(buzz buzz=west nile)
my facial moisturizer still has a sunscreen of at least spf 30 in it and my makeup also has an spf of at least 20
my makeup is still all sephora brand tinted moisturizer and matching mineral makeup foundation that i apply with a kabuki brush after the tinted moisturizer
loving stila prime pot in taffy
stila stay all day waterproof liquid eyeliner (in any color with a proper base stays on beautifully)
mascara i need is creamy and lasts all day and doesnt flake, i dont usually buy waterproof until the summer months or i need it for a wedding styling
my new found love is clear eye brow gel mascara to set those hairs straight into place after pencilling in and using a spoolie to blend
dont forget your spf!!!!!
not only is it in my products but i keep it at the shop, in my car, in both bathrooms at home, in my hand bag, i cant get caught looking like a lobster or without sunglasses, please!
spray sunscreens are great, you can spray and wait to get dressed for just a few seconds and your skin is protected, it is best with the sunscreen lotions that you apply and let dry for 15-20 mins before dressing
gotta jet for now...
next i will visit what the hottest and continuing trends are for hot fingers and toes, lipstick hues best for this transitional season and how to let go of wintertime thermals and wool socks with proper layering techniques....oh...and SHOES!!!
T.T.F.N.(ta ta for now!)
